Open DrPic.com, a free web picture editor and image host. Click the green box that says "Start by uploading a picture from your computer or camera". The "Load Toolbox" window will appear. Click "browse" in the "Load Toolbox" window. Locate the picture on your computer you wish to use for your listing, select the picture, then click "open". Next, click the "Load Picture" button. Your picture now appears on DrPic.com. You will probably want to crop your picture. The listings are optimized for headshots. The crop function will allow you to 'cut' your picture down to a headshot. To crop, simply left click on your picture and drag your mouse in a diagonal motion then release. You will notice that a box with red corners has activated. Put your cursor over one of the red boxes, hold the cursor down and adjust the box. You can do this to either side, from top and bottom. You can also put your cursor anywhere inside the box and move the whole box at once. When you are satisfied, click the "Crop" icon under "Modify Picture" (left hand side of the page). Your picture now appears cropped. Now that you have cropped the photo, it needs to be set to the specific size we use on our website. You may wonder why the picture should be cropped if it will be resized too. The answer is that resizing a 3/4 or full length picture will result in your body being about the size of an ant. The smaller of an area that is selected to be reduced in size, the more visible your features will be. Click the "Resize" icon under "Modify Picture". The "Resize Toolbox" appears. Type 70 in the Width field. Choose PIXELS, not percent from the drop down menu next to it. Uncheck the box that says "Lock Aspect Ratio". If you skip this step, it will not allow you to specify the height of the picture. With the box unchecked, you are free to enter 80 in the height field. Choose PIXELS, not percent from this drop down menu as well. Click "Apply" and close the "Resize Toolbox" window. Please note that the picture size must be 70 pixels wide by 80 pixels tall. Please do not type any dimension other than 70x80. You have successfully cropped, and resized, good job! Your picture is automatically set to save in JPG format, no action is needed by you. Click the "Save to Web" link, this is below the "Modify Picture" icons. You will be prompted to confirm "Are you sure you want to upload your picture to our FREE Image Hosting service?" Click "Ok". Finally, you will see the Public URL to your picture. Copy the entire URL. Go back to your BellyDanceClasses.net submission form, and in the indicated field, paste your unique URL. For teachers who are already listed but are just now adding a picture: Use the "Contact Us" link below to email the unique public URL to your picture. Be sure to include your name, as listed in the directory, as well as city, state, and country, so we know who to attribute the picture to. Paying members: if you purchase a premium listing, we will process your picture for you. Once your submission has successfully been sent, you will be directed to a page with further instruction on picture processing. |
